Darien, CT - Everything old is new again. What goes around comes around. The old adages ring true with the launch of Antique Baby Names website. Developed by Vanessa Wood from book titled Antique Names, the site boasts thousands of "the tried and ture and the truly rare" of old fashioned baby names.
Wood, a web designer with a passion for the genealogy and history, is the author of Notable Americans of the 1930 Census and the founder of the website Tennesse Pryors (possibly the largest single surname website). "Digging through historical records can turn up some pretty curious things. There are strange and terrific stories in the the orginary history of American families. I started keeping a list of some of the really unusual names I found while searching old papers. That's how the book was born."
How did Antique Names make the progression from list to website? Wood explains that from handwritten notes the names were compiled into a book published by Bisham Hill Books and then released as an e-book. "I'm all for following the current web trends and am happy to have seen the book go from print to e-book and now to the web. It's the beauty of the ride of advancing Internet technology."
